Honor All Veterans Dance - November 19, 2010
What a wonderful evening!!! We had a tremendous turnout at the dance to honor our square dancing veterans!! Twenty-eight veterans attended the dance, and that group represented 375 years of military service - Wow!!!!! Thank you all for dedicating your lives to protecting my freedom!!!
The dance featured a Guess the Vet contest - don't miss the pictures below. The veterans brought in pictures of themselves in uniform for everyone to guess. A prize went to the person who guessed the most correctly and to the person whose picture stumped the most people!!! Jose H. was the best guesser with 100% correct and Bill W. brought the picture that stumped the most people. Runners up on guessing were Sis C. and Sandra H. Runners up on the hardest pictures to guess were Ken C. (Killeen), Ken C (Double Cs), and Bob C. (Killeen). I got stories about you all digging through closests, storage sheds, attics, going to mother-in-laws and sisters to find them!! Thank you all so much for bringing the pictures in - they really added a special colorful touch to the evening!!
We also had a map where the veterans put pins with their names to show all the places they served in the military. Wow again!! What a lot of pins sprinkled all over the world!!
During the break we had the veterans come up to the front for a group picture. They then led the entire dance in the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. What wonderful pictures!! What a wonderful group of people!! Every time I look at it this morning I cry a little bit. You folks are great, and we are fortunate to have you as square dancing friends!!
